Costco has a knack for selling food that goes viral, from their Giant Easter Egg Layer Cake to their 72 pound Cheese Wheel.

And they've only gone and done it again, launching their new Banana Cream Pie, which weighs a whopping 1.5 kilos (that's 3.5 pounds).

The pie is stuffed full of real bananas, a banana cream filling and a whipped caramel topping, with a butter graham cracker crust and a caramel drizzle.

It's available in US Costco stores for $15.99 (which comes to £12.64).

When news of the Banana Cream Pie dropped on food blog, @costcoaislesfinds, it's safe to say that there was excitement.

Over 7,600 people flocked to 'like' the Insta post, and some of the comments were passionate, to say the least.

"Omg!! I wanna dive into this!!," said one person in the comments.

Whilst another wrote: "I'd risk my life for this".

"Can confirm this is DELICIOUS," a third penned.

This isn't the first time Costco's bakery section has caused a social media storm.

Its Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie was a hit both in the US and the UK – also made with a graham cracker crust, with a gooey centre of peanut butter and chocolate mousse.

It doesn't stop there. Their Pumpkin Pie recipe has been the same for three decades, and always sees customers come running.

The most recent social media sensation was a Triple Chocolate Cream Pie which launched earlier this year, and became an instant hit.

It's made with a buttery graham cracker crust, and is packed with layers of chocolate fudge brownie, a sweet chocolate custard and whipped cream. Nom.

According to those who have already tried this bad boy, "a small slice goes a long way," with this one, as it's super rich and delicious.

Sadly for UK customers reading this, both pies have only landed in the US at the moment, but we'll update you as soon as we catch wind of them landing over here.
