Lidl is bringing back a super-cheap alternative to Aperol Spritz, and it is gonna be our drink of summer.

Yup, the budget supermarket is offering a solution to your classic aperitivo bottle, which would usually set you back as much as £20.

The supermarket alternative, named The Bitterol, promises similar sweet, bitter, citrusy flavour, but for almost 70 percent less money (Aperol retails at £17 in most supermarkets).

Yup, customers will be able to get their hands on a 70cl bottle for £6.45 – a steal, if you ask us.

The typical way to serve this tipple is with Prosecco and a dash of soda. Voila! You have a Bitterol Spritz.

You'd better be quick if you wanna nab one though, as Lidl sold a bottle a minute in its first week of launching.

When the drinks launched (and every year subsequently) , fan-fare has ensued.

"I waited half an hour for lidl to unpack the crate with the first bitterol spritzes of the szn," said one person on Twitter last year.

While another wrote: "If you ever see Bitterol in Lidl get it.Its almost a cross between an Aperol and Campari and much cheaper than both."

A third Bitterol fan previously gushed: "Spotted. This is NOT a drill. Bitterol spotted back on shelves at Lidl."

So...yeah, we'd advise rushing down if you wanna fill your cupboards.

The drink is slightly different to Aperol, but with a few stark similarities.

Firstly, it's the bright orange colour remains. Plus, it has natural orange oil and quinine bitters and herby botanical notes, like you'd expect from an Aperol.

Like Aperol, Bitterol is also 11 percent, so you don't have to sacrifice ABV to get the price-tag.

However, Bitterol is a bit sweeter than actual Aperol (despite what the name suggests).

The drink will be available nationwide throughout the summer, but tends to be seasonal, so don't sleep on this one.

Brb, we're off to grab ours!
