McDonald’s launches new game with chances to win big money

McDonald’s Winning Sips is the latest promotion from the fast food giant, and it launches very soon.

Yep, just in case you needed an incentive to grab yourself a Maccies (who does?!) the folks over at McDonald’s HQ are offering people the chance to win prizes when they make drink orders.

What is McDonald’s Winning Sips?

McDonald’s Winning Sips is a brand new promotion from the Golden Arches, which offers customers a chance to win a variety of prizes when they make a medium (0.4L) or large (0.5L) drink order.

Can’t get easier than that, can it?

The game is available for anyone from the UK, Isle of Man or Channel Islands to play, during its limited run.

The McDonald’s Winning Sips prizes vary anywhere from a free food item to £10,000, and Maccies has ensured there are millions of prizes up for grabs so that the odds are in your favour.

They can be split into several sections – cash, food and merch.

The prizes vary depending on whether you have an Instant Win sticker or you play via the McDonald’s app (more deets on that below).

Whilst all of the food and drink prizes are available across both play formats, in-app prizes offer more opportunities. For instance, the £200 prize and the £10,000 prize draw are only available for those playing via the app.

All of the McDonald’s merch prizes are exclusive to the app game, too.

How to play McDonald’s Winning Sips

You’re eligible to play McDonald’s Winning Sips whenever you order one of the following drinks in a medium or large.

• Coca-Cola Zero Sugar
• Diet Coke
• Sprite Zero
• Coca-Cola Classic
• Fanta Orange
• Oasis
• Chocolate milkshake
• Strawberry milkshake
• Banana milkshake
• Vanilla milkshake

Once you’ve made your order, simply peel back the sticker on the cup and you’ll see an Instant Win prize or an App play game piece.

Instant Win prizes can be claimed there and then (we’ll explain how in a second), whereas to play your App Play game piece you’ll need to scan a code via the McDonald’s App to find out if you have won or not.

Whilst Instant Win prizes are unlimited, you’ll only get eight game entries via the Maccies app.

How can I claim my McDonald’s Winning Sips prize?

The way you claim your McDonald’s Winning Sips prizes varies a little depending on what you’ve won.

Let’s break it down:

How to claim McDonald’s Winning Sips cash prizes

You claim your McDonald’s Winning Sips cash prizes by heading to the web address found on your Instant Win game piece and entering a security code, alongside your full name, contact and bank details.

Winners will have to notify Maccies of their winning game piece, then their prize will be paid via bank transfer or by personal cheque.

If you have won food, it’s as simple as scanning or entering the security code from your game piece at a McDonald’s payment kiosk, or hand it in at the service counter or Drive-Thru.

How to claim McDonald’s Winning Sips food prizes

You can also redeem the food prize via the McDonald’s app by scanning or entering the same code and then redeeming it via the ‘Offers’ section.

You can then order from McDonald’s or opt for McDelivery via the McDonald’s app to bag your freebie.

Unfortunately, you can’t use the winning codes if you’re ordering via Deliveroo, JustEat or Uber Eats.

How to claim McDonald’s Winning Sips merch prizes

As the merchandise prizes are only available via the app, you’ll be sent straight to a form on there should you win one of these items, and be invited to give your details so you can claim your winning item.

You can also find this form in the Winning Sips Wallet of your app, if you don’t get round to filling it out there and then.

The form will ask for some contact information so you can claim your prize.

How to claim McDonald’s Winning Sips £10,000 draw

If you bag the big bucks in the McDonald’s Winning Sips prize draw you’ll receive an email from McDonald’s, sent to the email associated with your app account.

You’ll receive it within 10 days of the prize draw and you’ll have a week (no longer) to respond with the correct contact and identification info.

You’ll then receive the cash within 30 days of all of the prize-claim documents being completed and verified.

Don’t miss this email because otherwise the prize could be offered to someone else! Imagine the heartbreak…

When does McDonald’s Winning Sips start? 

McDonald’s Winning Sips begins at 5am on Wednesday, March 29th and will be running for a limited time.

You’ve gotta get those drink orders in quickly to maximise your chances of bagging any goods, as the game is only a limited promotion, ending at the end of the day on 25th April.

You’ll have until 9th May to claim any prizes you have won (other than the £10,000 cash prize, which has its own rules stated above).

Is McDonald’s Winning Sips replacing McDonald’s Monopoly?

McDonald’s Winning Sips is a new game from the folks at the Golden Arches, and it isn’t replacing any other promotions, like McDonald’s Monopoly.

Yep, the big dogs at McDonald’s giveth, they don’t taketh away, so you can expect another bout of prizes in the coming months – this is just an added extra focused solely on drinks.

There hasn’t yet been a start date for McDonald’s Monopoly announced, although the fast food giant has confirmed it’ll be back.

However, if it’s following a similar pattern to last year and the year prior, we can expect it to start in September and run through October.
